Last week was fantastic!! A dear friend was in town and we drove out to Austin for SXSW, which was also fantastic. I love that even when I feel alone here in Dallas, there are always friends who are amazing. Friends who keep in contact. Friends who make time for me. Everyone I know is just wonderful.
On the darker side, however, in the shadow of the bastard who drove into that crowd at SXSW, killing 2 and injuring 23... Fuck that guy. Those people didn't deserve what he did. They may not be people I know personally, but my heart still broke for them. You can be an asshole, you can be an idiot... but you can't kill people. You can't.
In artsy news, here's my progress on the portrait with Amy and Amara. I think it's looking pretty good, minus one.. little.. annoyance.
I think I may have used this drawing pad for something else as there is the evidence of paper indentions from having been written on. Most noticeably the two vertical lines going down the middle of Amy's face, although I don't think you can see it in the picture.
This frustrated me for a bit, but I'm not about to REDRAW this. That's just bothersome. Haha... If she doesn't mind it, I'll still send it to her when I'm done.
